Description
AE3003 is inspired by the raw, natural beauty of the desert surrounding Santa Fe, New Mexico. Through an intuitive and organic process, Zach Touchon explores the textures, colors, and quiet imperfections found in the natural world.
Layers of weathered gray, oxidized rust, and earthy neutrals create a surface reminiscent of aged stone, desert minerals, and landscapes shaped by time and the elements.
Rooted in Abstract Expressionism, the painting embraces spontaneity and the freedom of allowing materials to evolve naturally. Rather than depicting the desert, AE3003 seeks to capture its essence—its stillness, its history, and the beauty of natural transformation.
